Young Diamondbacks fan restores our faith in human nature (video)

It’s the Brewers vs. the D’Backs in Arizona on Wednesday night, and when Rickie Weeks tosses a baseball toward a young Brewers fan in the stands, the boy misses it. The ball is recovered by an usher and handed to another boy in a red t-shirt, who celebrates over his new memento … until realizing that the first kid is crying over the lost ball. So, the red t-shirt kid walks over to the younger boy and gives him the ball.

“So shines a good deed in a weary world.” — Willie Wonka.

If you look closely, you can see that an usher apparently tells the red t-shirt kid — named Ian — that the ball was intended for the younger boy, Nicholas. But still, it was a classy move to immediately hand it over. I know a lot of kids who would have just taken the ball and run.

Of course the two kids and their friends were invited to the broadcast booth afterward, and Ian was given an autographed bat. Hmm — shouldn’t kindness be its own reward? But anyway, a much better end to this tale than we saw in Houston recently, when an evil woman wrestled a ball away from a little girl.

And don’t forget this from last week.

See, this is what happens when you do the right thing.

I registered just so I could comment on this article. The author makes the claim that “If you look closely” you can see this kid wasn’t that generous, someone told him to do it…which is absolutely wrong.

I did look closely. Repeatedly. The person called an usher may be an usher, who knows, but he definitely is not talking to the kid in the red t-shirt. He even looks away from the kid when he gets to the steps beside him.

He does say something to the kid sitting in the seat in front of him who has just handed him something. He never says a word to the kid who gave the ball back.

Shame on the author for trying so hard to find a way to discredit this act of kindness.

Nice to see we have blind people starting accounts here.

UMMM……the author is correct. If you look closely, you would see that someone in a red shirt (usher or not) did say something to the little boy in the red shirt about giving the ball to the little boy in the blue shirt. That is plain to see. Why else would the two little boys stopt in their tracks, looking confused and then all of a sudden after jumping around so happily, give up the ball. Even though it was a nice gesture, he still did not do it on his own. SORRY…….
