Wake Up Call: Vancouver rioter receives fist of justice (video)

The guy you see here delivering the punch to the cowardly rioter is Bert Easterbrook, a 32-year-old photographer, karate expert and bouncer. He’s also the grandson of a Vancouver cop, so when he saw hooligans trying to tip over a truck and set it on fire during Thursday’s Vancouver Loutapolooza, he and two others waded into the crowd and tried to prevent the destruction.

As you’ll see in the video below, the crowd turned on him and began beating and punching him, until police stepped in and pulled him to safety. Although sporting a few bruises and cuts, he’s OK, because he’s made of tougher stuff than the orcs who attacked him. One site, PublicShamingEternus, is calling him Captain Vancouver. It fits.

Caution: Bad language throughout.

But you may be surprised at one of Easterbrook’s part-time jobs. From The Province:

Easterbrook’s long-time friend, pot activist Jodie Emery, says the hulking photographer displayed the qualities that make him ideal as a security guard during marijuana rallies. “He’s really tough, but he’s really, really gentle,” Emery says. “He’s a super soft-spoken sweetheart. He can’t stand disrespect, and violence is not his thing.”

Watching this, I’m just wondering, where are the cops, where are the mounties (or whatever Canada’s National Guard is called)? I understand the cops were stretched thin but you gotta be more prepared for this sorta thing and be out there before the game ends.
