Mavs’ DeShawn Stevenson: ‘Heat are actors’

DeShawn Stevenson of the Dallas Maveric

Here’s what we needed. A little smack talk to spice up this NBA Finals. because frankly, I was getting bored. Some quotes from Dallas’ DeShawn Stevenson, via Art Garcia of ESPN Dallas, on those hardwood thespians known as the Miami Heat:

“They’re great actors and they sell it,” Stevenson said Monday afternoon. “That’s what they’re supposed to do.”

The Mavericks’ struggles guarding James and Wade through three games of the NBA Finals are only heightened by their acting, Stevenson added. Miami leads the series 2-1 going into the second of three games at American Airlines Center on Tuesday night.

When it comes to James and Wade flying through the lane, Stevenson said the Mavericks’ tendency to send a message is muted.

“We’ve got to take hard fouls,” Stevenson said, “but if you touch them they’re so dramatic you might get a flagrant 2.”

Excellent gamesmanship by Stevenson going into a Game 4 at home that the Mavericks absolutely have to capture. At any rate, things are about to get a little more physical, which means we could see a final score in which neither team tops 80 points. That will be, um, fun.

If the Heat are ‘actors’, then the Mavs are ‘extras’.

Get a grip Slaton, he’s just voicing his opinion about how they fake getting fouled.

And let me also add I bet the refs are asking for Heat autographs after the games…sheesh.

Durning the Bulls-Heat series, Chris Bosh had some of the worst flops in the history of organized basketball. It was like watching a soccer game out there at times.

I’m a hater of the heat. Just to be real. And they flop and complain more then any team I think I have ever seen. If they called half the travels they should on LeBron James, and Dwayne Wade they wouldn’t even make the playoffs. Thats the one thing today that drives me crazy, players traveling and palming the ball and it never being called. I wonder what the old timers could have done if they got away with it the way todays superstars do. Its unfair to compare eras, but todays players are given to much of a leash to honestly compare them to old timers ball. Old school ball was called way more by the book. Today the NBA is such a joke they have refs calling BS all the time, or not calling a travel or a palming. I’m just a hater I guess.

Dwayne Wade does end up laying on the floor at the end of every game for some reason.
