Own goal: Ryan Giggs apparently had eight-year affair with his brother’s wife

It takes a special kind of dog to have an affair with his brother’s wife — in soccer they call that an own goal. Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs is just such a dog. Soccer, this is why we love you: you take a back seat to no one when it comes to sex scandals. Manchester United’s Giggs wasn’t content with running around with Welsh TV personality Imogen Thomas, it seems (Giggs is married). According to the News of the World, Giggs has also been carrying on an eight-year affair with Natasha Giggs, the wife of his brother Rhodri. That’s Giggs in for Giggs on your scorecard.

Natasha, in the very appropriately-titled Business Insider:

“I knew it was wrong. It’s the worst possible betrayal. I tried to end it but my relationship with Ryan was like an addiction. Anything he said, I did. If he wanted me to drop everything to meet him, I would. I couldn’t say no. But Ryan never told me he loved me. It was all about sex.”

Sometimes I think that certain European soccer players exist solely to increase tabloid sales.

Rhodri Giggs, to the News:

“I was with her on Saturday, but I’m not with her now. I know me and Ryan have had our ups and downs but this is the lowest of the low.”

Ryan Giggs is widely believed to be the person who attempted to sue Twitter and obtain a “super injunction” to bar reports of his affair with Thomas. What is a super injunction? Let’s just say that British privacy laws are different than ours.

Now we know why he was apparently so desperate to keep things hushed up. But is this just the tip of the iceberg? Kate Middleton, where were you last Friday night? Queen Elizabeth? Is this your hat we found in Giggs’ foyer?
