Hot tennis babe alert: Why was I not informed sooner of the existence of Arantxa Rus? (Video)

The best thing about Arantxa Rus, beside the obvious, is that she lives in the village of Monster, The Netherlands. Yep. And did you know that Monster’s coat of arms is a smiley face? The 114th-ranked Rus beat Kim Clijsters of Belgium 3-6 7-5 6-1 on Thursday in the second round of the French Open, meaning that I can continue to watch the French Open.

Why have I not been informed of Rus sooner? Heads will roll. She’s the top-ranked WTA women’s player in Holland, but I guess that doesn’t mean much because I’d never heard of her. It was actually kind of a stunning upset, as Clijsters was considered the favorite to win the tournament. But she had 65 unforced errors — is that a lot? — including 10 double faults.

Although, she did turn in this pretty amazing shot:

JERRY: “So the ball hit the net, bounced up and turned — in mid-air, mind you — and hit the post and fell to the other side. That is one magic loogie.”

Then earlier today …

Top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki will have to wait for her first major title after losing to Daniela Hantuchova 6-1, 6-3 Friday in the third round of the French Open.

The Dane has been No. 1 in the WTA rankings for almost the entire season but never really challenged her Slovak opponent on Court Suzanne Lenglen, having her serve broken five times.

Following No. 2 Kim Clijsters’ loss on Thursday, it is the first time in the Open era that the top two seeded women failed to make the round of 16 at a Grand Slam tournament.

Oh, and Roger Federer had 10 aces in a 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 win over Janko Tipsarevic.

H/T World Of Isaac.

Not the best pic, dude. She looks like the heaven’s gate cult leader with Dwight Howard’s deltoids there. Although, it merited a google image search.

You are spot on correct, sir. Unfortunately I can’t use em, though, due to copyright issues.
