Bryan Stow beating suspect says he has alibi; but don’t expect Larry David to confirm it this time

Here’s what Sports by Brooks is reporting is the police mugshot of Giovanni Ramirez, the man police arrested as a suspect in the beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow on opening day at Dodger Stadium. Ramirez was put in a police lineup on Wednesday evening, the results of which will not be immediately released. Some are already saying, however, that police may have jumped the gun in calling Ramirez their prime suspect.
Ramirez’ attorney, Anthony Brooklier, told KFI-AM Los Angeles crime reporter Eric Leonard that Ramirez claims he wasn’t at Dodger Stadium on the day in question, and that in fact he’s never been there in his life. Ramirez says he has alibi witnesses. So we’ll see where this goes.
Too bad for Ramirez that Curb Your Enthusiasm wasn’t filming that day.
Yep, Dodger Stadium — and Curb creator Larry David — played a pivotal role in another criminal case in 2004. That’s when Juan Catalan was arrested for the May 12 murder of a gang witness. Catalan’s alibi was that he was at the Dodgers game when the murder occurred, but after scanning hundreds of photos and video of the Fox broadcast of the game in question, Catalan’s lawyer could not find his client in any of them to prove his innocence.
Then Melnik learned that on the evening of May 12th the HBO comedy series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” had been shooting scenes in the ballpark. In that episode, which aired earlier this year, Larry David, the star of the show, attends a Dodgers game with a prostitute. (David doesn’t hire her for sex but, rather, to sit with him in his car so that he can travel in the car-pool lane on his way to the game.) Melnik asked if he could examine the HBO footage, too.
“It sounded very cool because my life is so lacking in anything interesting,” David said last week. “It did seem like kind of a lame story, but I told the lawyer, ‘Go ahead, go crazy. Look at anything you want.’ And we hooked him up with everything from the stadium, all the footage we shot that night.” On the day that Melnik came in to see the tapes, David at first left him to watch on his own, but later he stuck his head in the editing room, where the lawyer was examining the footage.
“I’m there for maybe five minutes, and the lawyer screams out, ‘There he is!’ ” David recalled. “We couldn’t believe it. We rewound the tape, and just as I’m walking up the aisle in one shot, this guy is sitting right there. And then there was another shot where he was standing up.” Melnik said, “Jesus Christ, if I didn’t jump three feet in the air! It was totally a eureka moment.”
But instead of Larry David with a Get Out of Jail Free card, I see Suzy Green screaming expletives in Giovanni Ramirez’s future. I could be wrong, but I have a hunch I’m not.

‘Ok Mr. Ramirez, your alibi checks out on the Stow beating…however, we do have to charge you on possession of that douchebag neck tattoo.’
They booked the right guy. Judge the book by the cover, no trial necessary. GUILTY!

If not the beating, he is definitely guilty of something. If you have your neck tatooed and your name isn’t chris andersen then you should be deported.
