Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Nuts: Man tied up kids in garage so he could watch basketball

Jonathan Weaver of Las Vegas was sentenced to two-to-six years in prison on Tuesday for questionable babysitting skills. It seems Weaver, a big NBA fan, was supposed to watch his girlfriend’s kids while she attended night school. But a friend wanted him to go watch the NBA Finals at a sports bar, and so Weaver did the logical thing: he bound and gagged the kids and locked them in the garage so he could go watch the game.

“But for a neighbor who heard them crying in the garage, they could have easily have died in there,” the judge said.

Neighbors summoned police and firefighters broke into an apartment complex garage to get to the boys, ages 1 and 2. Police said they were found tied to car seats, each with a piece of clothing in his mouth.

The toddlers’ mother left the boys with the 22-year-old Weaver while she was at night school, Las Vegas police said.

Fortunately neighbors heard the kids crying and called police, who summoned firefighters to break into the garage. Turns out Weaver will only spend a couple of weeks in prison — assuming good behavior — since he’s already spent nearly two years in county jail on these charges.

The worst part of this is that someday those kids are going to realize they were tied up so that someone could watch a Lakers-Magic game.

dumbass. 1 and 2 year olds are like canaries–turning off the light puts them to sleep. Easy to sneak out then. Enjoy jail, idiot.

Tie him to his bunk and turn on the tv to the 24 hour weather station for the remaining time he has to serve……….with the sound OFF!

If the kids were gagged, how did the neighbor’s hear them inside of a closed garage?
