This unfortunate dope is Fort Myers Miracle pitcher Bruce Pugh, heading to the bullpen on Friday wearing a Justin Bieber backpack. The rule goes like this: The last bullpen pitcher to give up a home run for the Miracle has to wear the Bieber backpack to and from the field at each game, and must continue to wear it until another teammate gives up a long ball.
“The Bieber backpack has been pretty big for us this year,” Pugh said. “We had a night game in Port Charlotte, and they had a packed house. In right field, I had to walk from there all the way across the field with the Bieber backpack on my back. I caught some hell for it.”
Blake Martin, a left-handed Miracle reliever from Louisiana State University, bought the backpack for $16.
“I went to Target the day before the season started,” Martin said. “I was looking for a backpack. I saw Justin Bieber and decided to get it.”
Hilarious, until you realize that Bieber could buy your team in the morning and by dinner have it moved to Alaska.
