By Ben Chew: In my time in the blogging community, I have seen numerous videos of sports fans trying to evade police while running onto and off the playing field.

However, this Houston Astros fan might be one of the most impressive escapes that I have ever seen. It happened during the Astros/Mets game on Friday night; in the 9th inning, Houston’s Carlos Lee was at the plate and a fan decided to run out onto the field.

Then, he led security on a wild ride that will not be forgotten:

Well, someone clearly graduated from the Mario Brothers Jumping Academy. In case MLB has taken this video down by the time you read this, a description of the dash is below. From Huliq:

“I wonder if there was a door up on the concourse that he had an escape plan. That seemed like it wasn’t off the cuff,” New York Mets outfielder Jason Bay told ESPN’s Adam Rubin. “I hope he got out. … I think it was a well-thought-out plan. … Although if he did that might breed a whole new set of protocol.”

Unfortunately to answer Bay and everyone else’s question, Rubin confirmed via Twitter that the leaping outlaw was indeed apprehended later on that evening.

“The man who ran onto the field in Houston on Friday, ran up the hill in CF, leaped the outfield wall, ran up a berm, scaled a 2nd wall leaped over the second wall, landed on a concourse and made it out of the stadium was arrested outdoors, Astros person says.”
