When is it permissable to allow your daughter to get Botox treatments? Or to teach her how to pole dance? Turns out that the answers are 16 and 7, respectively. You’re welcome.
My favorite graph of the day, from the London Daily Mail:
Sarah Burge, 50, owns a swingers’ sex party club and is known as the “Human Barbie” for her $600,000-worth of plastic surgery treatments. She’s also the mother of three daughters. Her eldest, Charlotte, 23, dances burlesque; her middle daughter, Hannah, 16, started getting Botox injections last year; and her 7-year-old, Poppy, wears lip gloss, high heels and makeup, and loves pole dancing.
“I’d rather her be healthy and ambitious than sitting in front of the TV all day getting fat like most children,” Sarah Burge told the Daily Mail.
Oh, I didn’t mention that Mrs. Burge is a former Playboy Bunny, and holds the world record for the most cosmetic procedures, which must be substantial.
“Poppy wants a boob job when she is old enough, and what my daughters want, they get,” Burge said. “She also wears high heels and make-up, it makes her feel pretty.”
But Siobhan Freegard, of Netmums, said that the moves were sexually explicit and would be damaging for Poppy.
“Pole dancing is akin to striptease,” Freegard said. “Girls love it when mum gets involved in an activity with them, so the daughter is going to be massively influenced.”
Mrs Burge said she was training her daughter to take over her empire when she gets older.
Here’s the thing, though, before you get outraged over this. When people criticized the parents of Abby Sunderland for letting their 16-year-old daughter attempt to sail around the world, many said that we shouldn’t prevent children from attempting to reach for their dreams. Pole dancing is pretty much the same thing, only with the noticeable absence of pirates.

1-Pole dancing is very good exercise, and can work wonders for one’s self-image.
2-I think 7 is just a wee bit young for that particular brand of exercise.
3-I’m not sure this lady is the best of parents :-\
