If you lived under a rock during the 1990′s, then two things — the aughts must have come as a real surprise to you, and you probably won’t understand much of this post. I wouldn’t suggest living under a rock, either; that sounds bad for you.

Actor Larry Thomas, who is better known nearly everywhere by his ‘Seinfeld’ role of the Soup Nazi, showed up at Saturday Night’s Mets-Dodgers game in New York, in character, standing guard over his crab bisque and denying service to loudmouths everywhere. Why? Shameless cross-promotion, of course! From the AP:

The Soup Nazi showed up at Citi Field on Saturday night.

Actor Larry Thomas, who played the ornery soup genius on the TV show “Seinfeld” appeared — in character — to give DVD prizes to fans at Citi Field who correctly answered trivia questions about the show.

I’m Keith Hernandez! I’m Keith Hernandez! Sorry, got a little caught up there.

Dressed in chef’s whites just as he did when he famously booted “Seinfeld” characters George Costanza and Elaine Benes from his shop, Thomas waved to the crowd on the big screen, mouthing the words: “No soup for you!”

Later, he posed for pictures with another winner.

I’m already looking forward to the next Mets home-stand, where presumably we can get appearances from Joe Mayo, or the Maestro, or maybe even Bubble Boy.

The Mets won the game 4-2.
