In comedy, timing is everything: Tommy Tuberville picked last night to reveal that he’s a ‘birther’ (video)

New Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville (which I thought for many years was an animated children’s show) chose Tuesday to go on Fox News and reveal that he’s a ‘birther’ — one of those wacky, fun-loving folks who thinks Barack Obama may not have been born in the U.S. Of course this morning’s headlines are dominated by Obama publicly revealing his birth certificate — flown in from Hawaii as if for the sole purpose of making Tuberville look ridiculous. Let’s now ring the Unfortunate Timing Bell!

Sports by Brooks has the story today on how Tuberville appeared on Sean Hannity’s “Great American Panel” on FOX News to discuss the subject.

Tuberville: “Obviously there’s got to be something on there that he doesn’t want anyone to see. I don’t understand it. I’m an American. I don’t understand why we just go through this. I think it just continues to divide the country.”

Just a note to Texas Tech fans for the fall: When your coach orders an onside kick at the end of the game when he’s ahead by six points, please don’t be surprised.
