Apparently the professional soccer community has heard the complaints from soccer haters, and has taken them to heart. Soccer will no longer be a sport filled with whining, flopping pretty boys. Instead, they will engage in bench clearing brawls, and will up the ante on other leagues by not just punching each other, but by incorporating stomps to the head and flying dropkicks.
This came at the end of Thursday’s Brazilian league game between Avai and Botafogo. The fight was sparked by a controversial late penalty kick which allowed Avai to win the game. After the final whistle, all hell broke loose and riot police had to be called in to restore order. [The Score]
- Hines Ward on if there’s a team that he’s identified as the biggest threat to win Dancing With the Stars: “You know, Kirstie Alley, she brought John Travolta, and she went on Oprah, she got the Scientology thing behind her — so she’s a major threat on that end. But you know what, the competition is close. But everyone is doing well, so you have to bring your A game every time week in and week out. For us, me and Kym, we’re just trying to finish in the top-three every time and hopefully we end up in the finals.”
