Glasgow Rangers soccer star: ‘Gaddafi is my friend’

El-Hadji Diouf is a striker of Senegalese descent, on loan to the Glasgow Rangers from the Blackburn Rovers. He is also a controversy machine. A few of his greatest hits: Accused of taunting Jamie Mackie of the Queens Park Rangers while the latter was down with a broken leg; received a two-match ban for spitting at Celtic fans during UEFA Cup quarterfinals; spit orange juice at an 11-year-old Middlesbrough fan; driving without a license; spit at yet another player while playing for Bolton, causing his coach to send him to a psychologist; said “F*** off, white boy” to a ballboy. There are others, but those are my favorites.

Now he has told an African magazine that he’s pals with Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and his son.

“Gaddafi is a man who I have always admired,” he declared. “I am telling the truth. I know him, and I know his son Saif as well. They are my friends. I do not honestly know what is really happening in Libya at the moment, but it must be very hard for Gaddafi and his family.

“I cannot remain far away from what is happening in Libya. I do not know who is in the right and who is wrong, but it is a shame to see so many victims. By the will of Allah, victory will go to the side that is in the right.”

This has gone over really well in Scotland, considering Libya has always been suspected of being behind the Lockerbie bombing. Gaddafi is believed by some to have personally ordered the the attack that brought down the jetliner on Scottish soil. And as we read earlier today, Glasgow soccer fans are quite shy and retired when it comes to mixing politics and sports.

Stop referring to players as stars when they aren’t. Guy has one goal in ten games for the Rangers and four in 60 games for Blackburn. Couldn’t cut it in the EPL anymore so they shipped him out to a mediocre league where he still can’t cut it.

I’m no soccer expert, so I depend on you, Dr. Monkey Army, to show me the way. But you don’t have to be so pissy about it, do you? And why would teams put up with his shenanigans if he wasn’t valuable? Look at his rap sheet. That’s a lot of baggage.

Sorry Rick it was late, but that is no excuse. My apologies. I wasn’t just pointing out this story, many writers do it…just seem to attach the term star to players. Well, he had a productive spell or two earlier in his career, but teams really haven’t been putting up with his nonsense. That is why he has played and been loaned to numerous teams.
