Stupid Dedicated Bolton fan quits job to see team play FA Cup semifinal

It’s time for another episode of How Did That Turn Out For You? Here we have Ian ‘Waggy’ Wagstaff, 50, an sheet metal worker from Australia whose favorite soccer team in all the world is the Bolton Wanderers. After spending more than $1,000 to make the trip to England to see Bolton play in the FA Cup semis at Wembley, Wagstaff’s boss told him he couldn’t take the time off. So ‘Waggy’ did what you or I would have done: He quit his job.
And now (all together): “How did that work out for you?!”
Bolton lost to Stoke, 5-0.
And after spending £1,000 on flights and tickets, the sheet metal worker –an Australian resident for for the past 24 years — has not been to see Bolton play since 1994, says he has no regrets.
“I’ve been a Wanderer all my life,” Wagstaff said. “I’ve watched them in every league apart from the Premier League.
“I told my boss I wanted to go, but he said we were too busy. I told him I was going anyway. It’s not every day you get the chance to watch Wanderers at Wembley.”
Thank goodness no one engages in this kind of foolishness here in the U.S.
