Well, that’s one way to make a hockey game colder: Capitals fan gives Rangers coach an ice-chip shower

Anything goes in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs (short of attempts at amateur ankle surgery), so it should come as no surprise that occasionally, someone throws something at someone else. Beers, punches, octopi, evil glares and even ice chips,  as this Caps fan in DC  (labeled “Chunky Caps Chick” in the tip, which while fair, seems a bit redundant on a story about ice hockey) demonstrated by tossing the remnants of her ice-cold beverage over the glass partition and onto Mike Sullivan’s unsuspecting dome-piece. Pretty slick maneuver.

Sullivan responded with a clipboard slap against the wall in her direction and an angry word or two I’m sure, but cooler heads prevailed and major confrontation was averted.

The Capitals lead the series 2-0 heading into this afternoon’s return tilt in the Big Apple, so we’ll see what Rangers fans have in store as retribution..not that Off the Bench supports that kind of hooliganism or anything. Unless it’s funny, then please, send us a tip.
