Even Mike Tyson’s fans are crazy: Russian man stabs friend to death over boxing argument

Word to to the wise: if you find yourself in Russia, be careful getting into any discussions over different pugilists and their respective merits. You might just catch a knife between your shoulderblades for your trouble, especially if you dare say that one Iron Mike Tyson is a better fighter than Kremlin comrades, the Klitschko brothers (I assume the argument was for each of them individually, but I’m still taking Mike against the pair. Crazy always beats big).

From the Associated Press:

Nikolai Makeyev, a teacher in the Siberian city of Tyumen, was having drinks with two other men in his apartment when the argument broke out, the regional investigating committee said in a statement.

“Makeyev said that Tyson would come out as winner, but his guest accused him of a lack of patriotism. The host did not like that and he fatally stabbed the victim several times in the back,” it said.

Yeah, who’s lacking patriotism, now, punk?

Good luck to Mr. Makayev in Russian prison, where he should have many more opportunities to stab people over simple disagreements and thusly prove his patriotism. Assuming that stabbing people to death in arguments is illegal in Russia that is, which quite frankly, I’m not so sure about.

Ready to learn something? The AP account ends with the following interesting tidbit:

Alcohol abuse kills around 500,000 Russians annually and greatly impacts on male life expectancy, now 63, which is lower than in developing countries such as Bangladesh and Honduras, according to official figures.

Also hurting male life expectancy? Kitchen knives to the back, and living in Siberia

Come on people, didn’t Rocky IV teach us anything? If he can change, then you can change.

We all can change.
