Manny won’t bobble, so Super Sam saves the day for Rays

Leave it to Sam Fuld to play the hero for the Tampa Bay Rays. May 29 was supposed to be Manny Ramirez bobblehead night at Tropicana Field, but as you know, Manny is no longer being Manny. Amazingly, illegal substances may be involved. Anyway, 10,000 fans 14 and under were scheduled to be sorely disappointed, until the Rays had a brainstorm. The team has announced that they will now give away “Super Sam” superhero capes on that date, honoring Fuld and his crazy, all-out outfield play that often has him diving for balls and slamming into fences.

Fuld, of course, passed up the achievement of hitting for the cycle recently when he stretched a single into a double in a game against the Red Sox.

So the Tampa Bay area should prepare itself for a flurry of emergency room activity in May, caused by children in blue capes jumping from roofs and trees.
