Getty Images In a pre-game ceremony that seemed as if it would last all day, the Giants celebrated their World Series championship during Opening Day ceremonies against the Cardinals earlier today. The most surreal moment came when Brian Wilson received the championship banner and sprinted across the outfield, into the stands, and onto the promenade to raise it on the flagpole in right-center.
Most touching moment: a tribute to Bryan Stow, the Giants fan who was assaulted at Dodger Stadium last week, and remains in a coma. Following a moment of refection for Stow, the crowd boomed out a chant of “Beat LA!”, which was kind of inappropriate, but amazing nonetheless.
Jonathan Sanchez then proceeded to walk Ryan Theriot on four pitches. Giants currently lead 2-1 in the fourth.
