Ice cream mini helmets are for lightweights, say the Akron Aeros

No doubt you’ve at one time or another enjoyed tasty ice cream in a baseball mini helmet at your local ballpark. The Akron Aeros (Double-A Eastern League) have no time for such trifles, however. Their challenge is for you to consume their ginormous ice cream treat served in a regular-sized batting helmet. Yes, premiering at Canal Park on April 7 is The Screamer — five pounds of Ice Cream in one of six flavorful choices: Moose Tracks, Buckeye Blitz, Cookies & Cream, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate or Vanilla. But that’s not all:
“The Screamer” is built on a one-pound chocolate brownie and includes 21 scoops of hand-dipped ice cream, four bananas, covered with hot fudge sauce, whipped cream, and sprinkles, served in a full-size souvenir Aeros replica batting helmet.
Not tonight dear, I have an ice cream headache.
What’s up with all the giant food in Akron, you ask? (The Aeros also announced their 14-inch Wonderdog recently). Perhaps its overcompensation for losing LeBron to Miami.
