More chickens in the news … but this time not in a good way for the chickens. Police in Benbrook, Texas, near Dallas, are investigating reports that two Western Hills High baseball players sacrificed chickens to improve their games.

I ask Jobu to come, take stupid from kids. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.

Police in Benbrook, Texas, say a 15- and 16-year-old “engaged in acts that caused the death of two baby chickens. It appears that superstition relating to a slump in baseball performance could have played a part.”

Western Hills High School baseball coach Bobby McIntire says he has not had a chance to talk to the students about why they did it. He told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that “baseball is very superstitious” and the idea possibly came from movies they saw.

I don’t remember the part in The Natural where poultry was sacrificed. Unless it was the scene in the dining car on the train.

The Huffington Post reports that school officials say the boys have been kicked off the team.

In addition, the chicken didn’t help their record either. Plus, PETA wants to start a club at the school… Oh boy!
