Gay Wrestling League wants WWE announcer fired for ‘homophobic slur’

In a story I’d swear as an April Fool’s Day prank except that it’s a couple days early, a Pro Gay Wrestling Federation performer named The Gay Avenger is calling for the suspension of World Wrestling Entertainment broadcaster Michael Cole for calling fellow WWE announcer Josh Mathews a “Fa****” on Twitter recently. TMZ, which reported the story on Wednesday, claims to have interviewed The Gay Avenger, whose existence, like the PGWF itself, is completely new news to me.

Secondly, we spoke with PGW champion — The Gay Avenger — who tells us he’s upset by Cole’s “intolerant and insensitive” comment … and insists the word encourages a “hostile bullying environment.”

PGW founder and CEO Francis Minks adds, “How can ANYONE at the WWE say anything derogatory about gay people?? Look at what they do and have been doing for a living for years! Big muscles, small tights rolling around! I’m just saying, honey.”

Minks adds, “People in glass houses shouldn’t throw sconces!”

I didn’t understand a word of that. But I’ll nonetheless sleep better at night knowing that The Gay Avenger is on the job, fighting ignorance, bigotry and tasteless living room decor.

Here’s a screenshot of Cole’s apology tweet (site slightly NSFW).

So far, no word from other PGW stars Zack Zander, Trent Danger and BJ Sparks.

Fun fact: Michael Cole’s real name is Sean Michael Coulthard, a former journalist who covered the Branch Davidian standoff, the war in Yugoslavia and the Presidential campaigns of Bill Clinton, Steve Forbes and Bob Dole.

One only prays that Cole never angers the Super Amigos. Then he’s in for real trouble.
