FIFA presidential candidate unveils greatest campaign slogan ever

All I can think is that Asian Football Confederation president Mohamed Bin Hammam must be strapped for cash. Not being able to afford a lot of fancy verbs and pronouns on his signs, he’s running for the FIFA presidency on his new, catchy campaign slogan: “Future.” Yep, that’s it. One word, deal with it.

He probably could have also gone with “Beard.” Or, to get the youth vote, “Facebook.” This could start a trend in politics: in 2014, Obama could just go with “Palin.”

From Reuters:

Asian soccer head Mohamed Bin Hammam said on Friday he would stand against incumbent Sepp Blatter in the FIFA presidential elections in June. Here are some of his key pledges.

* Will expand the FIFA executive committee to 41, including the president, and rebrand it the FIFA board.

* Will double FIFA member donations to $500,000

* Will support goalline technology and the use of two additional assistant referees in matches.

* Will increase funds in the FIFA goal project for developing nations to $1 million.

* Promises to decentralise bureaucratic FIFA administration.

* Will establish a FIFA transparency committee

He’ll also certainly save money on printing. Hard to believe old Sepp is going anywhere, though; he made too much money for too many influential people with the last two World Cup bids. In fact, when Qatar was awarded the 2022 Cup a couple of months back, I wasn’t aware that a FIFA election was coming up. It all makes sense now.
