Ah, the joy of celebration of victory, a combination of euphorias apparently strong enough to cause a man to elbow his own flesh & blood in the face. That’s Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg celebrating his Hokies’ last-second win over the Seminoles of Florida State, and in hugging one of his players, he sends an accidental elbow into the chin of a cheerleader who had been following him down the court. Oh, and that cheerleader just happens to be Greenberg’s daughter, Ella. I guess this is what exiting coaches mean when they talk about spending more time with their families.

Have to be more aware of your surroundings, coach. That could have been your star player right there (okay, assuming your star player was 5’7″ and white), and if you had clocked him, then you’d be in some actual trouble. As it is, since your daughter is most likely only on the squad thanks to your winning ways in Blacksburg, she can stand to take one for the team.

Though if this is what happens after a win, I’d hate to see what she got following the next day’s loss to Duke. Smart money says coach (like any apologetic father) will be paying for this one when the next holiday comes around (like any American family). Assuming the Hokies makes the NCAA Tournament field, another happy ending for all involved.
