Phil Jackson on Miami Heat Crygate: ‘This is the NBA: No Boys Allowed. Big boys don’t cry’

Whether this is one of Phil Jackson’s notorious mind games or just a case of a subject too good to pass up, we have one more great quote in this Cryami Heat saga for this week. Jackson was asked today by KCAL/9 reporter John Ireland what he thought of the story about Miami players crying in the locker room after losing to the Bulls, and Jackson initially responded: “I don’t want to talk about Miami’s situation.”
But Jackson couldn’t help himself.
“This is the NBA: No Boys Allowed,” said Jackson, whose Lakers face the Heat on Thursday night. “Big boys don’t cry. But if you’re going to do it, do it in the toilet where no one sees you.”
The Heat got irritated in late November with Jackson suggesting Pat Riley might eventually step in and replace young head coach Erik Spoelstra.
“I don’t think it’ll happen like we’re talking about it tomorrow or anything like that,” Jackson said then. “But I think eventually if things don’t turn around, the weight’s going to fall there.”
So yeah, Thursday. That’ll be fun.
