This morning we toast the National Geographic Channel, which built a 16-foot by 16-foot house, 18 feet tall, and attached it to 300, 8-foot weather balloons for a real-life version of the house in the movie Up. It was launched from a private airfield east of Los Angeles, and reached an altitude of more than 10,000 feet. It flew for approximately one hour.
The filming of the event, from a private airstrip, will be part of a new National Geographic Channel series called How Hard Can it Be?, which will premiere in fall 2011.
