What better team to hit a Hail Mary buzzer-beater than Holy Trinity?

Ah, Parochial School League youth basketball. Tiny gyms with folding chair seating, inexperienced refs, short courts that sometimes double as cafeterias, and even shorter players. And somewhere near the proceedings, a statue of Virgin Mary watching the action. And this time she decides to participate, as this youngster sinks an amazing buzzer-beater to allow Holy Trinity to tie the game. A couple of notes here:

No 3-point field goals, apparently, even though there’s a 3-point line. Odd. Either that, or the scorekeeper made a mistake.

For those who say the kid traveled: Most of these youth leagues have an unspoken one-and-a-half step rule … because the floors are so slippery (it takes money, time and effort to keep them waxed, and some aren’t even made of wood), you’re not going to get refs to make the marginal traveling calls in the younger divisions. If they did, a typical game would take four hours. So this kid’s little hop-step before launching the shot is typical, and isn’t going to get whistled.

Besides, I’ve seen worse travels in the NBA.
