Bryce Boyer was born without bones in his legs, and his parents were told that he would spend his life in a wheelchair. Not only did that not happen, but look at Bryce now: A senior at Blue Valley Northwest (Kan.) High, he plays football, plays snare drum in the band, and has qualified for the state wrestling tournament. Oh, and he carries a 4.2 grade point average.

“He’s quick. He’s a lot quicker than you give him credit for until you start wrestling him. He’s really worked hard on staying in good position for him in a match,” said wrestling coach Tim Serbousek.

Boyer, who has wrestled since middle school, has qualified for the state wrestling tournament. Boyer’s father said he was proud long before that accomplishment.

“Like all kids, he didn’t come with a rule book. But he came with determination, and I’ve never seen a kid like him. He just amazes me. Growing up, my Dad was my hero, and now Bryce is my hero, too,” Bob Boyer said.
