The NFL and MLB could learn an thing or two from UFC. I think every team should produce a video before a key game, mocking their opponent. Not only could great comedy ensue, but you’d wind up with some quality trash talking to boot. Jorge Rivera has done just that, producing a series of YouTube videos that serve as pre-fight trash talk leading in to his UFC 127 main card middleweight bout with Michael Bisping (in Sydney, Aus. on Sunday). Here’s a link to one of the videos.
Bisping was not amused. At their press conference on Tuesday, he let Rivera know about it.
“For me, I’ve got a big fight to prepare for,” said Bisping. “I’m fighting in the premiere fighting organization in the world and I’m trying to behave accordingly. I’m a professional fighter; I’m not an idiot in the schoolyard, making up silly rhymes and jokes and making stupid videos.
“This is a press conference, by the way, Jorge,” Bisping added, turning to address his opponent, who sat on the other side of the podium with a baseball cap pulled down low over his eyes. “This is what you do. I know it’s your first time being involved in something like this. Welcome to the big leagues. After this you’ll be back to the undercard, believe me.”
That’s entertainment.
Rivera said that the videos were a way to “get into Bisping’s head,” to which I would say, mission accomplished. But now once you’re in there what are you going to do? Judging from those quotes, inside of Bisping’s head seems like a cold, cavernous place with many dangers. I wouldn;t stay there for long.
Anyway, well done, UFC. You’ve taken a relatively minor bout and made it somewhat interesting.

What Giants fans should worry about, is Jose Guillen and his PED dealing wife are no longer on the roster. A lot of players turned around their season after the giants picked him up.
