He’s the kid who pulled at our heartstrings, or annoyed the hell out of us (choose one) not too long ago, when his mother told him that Michael Young would no longer be playing for the Rangers. And she lovingly caught his reaction on video. Oh how the tears flowed, and that was just my friends who are Rangers fans. You can imagine how a three-year-old reacted. Well, little Gavin Justice is back wearing his Rangers hat now, because Michael Young actually paid him a visit. Young saw Gavin’s famous YouTube video and contacted the family.
Young took Gavin on a shopping spree at the Rangers team store at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
“The kid was really cute and you got a laugh out of his reaction,” Young said. “As a father who videos my kids all the time, I was really able to relate to it. So, we thought it would be cool to meet him.”
Young and his wife met the family at the Rangers store, but Gavin was initially unimpressed. He had been told he’d be meeting Michael Young and Michael Young wears a baseball uniform. The man in front of him was in street clothes.
“First, we couldn’t just tell him we were going to the stadium, because he would have thought there was a game, so we explained to him that we were going to meet Michael Young,” [Gavin's mom] Kim said. “When Michael walked up in street clothes, he came right to Gavin and Gavin kind of looked at him like ‘Where’s Michael Young?’ He asked him ‘Are you Michael Young?’ And it took a minute for it to sink in.
