Dang it, how many times do I have to say it? You don’t let the raccoon onto the team bus, no matter how much it begs for a ride. It happened in Grand Forks, ND, where Carrington was on its way to a fourth consecutive North Dakota Region 2 high school wrestling championship. But on its way to the tournament on Saturday, apparently there were some shenanigans with a live raccoon, and the team was ousted from the tourney for fear of infecting the other wrestlers. The details of the encounter are not clear, except for this alarming quote by North Dakota Dept. of Health official Michelle Feist:
“The Carrington wrestlers, if they were bitten or scratched by the raccoon or were playing around the raccoon’s mouth and had an open cut, that could be exposure to it.”
Dang it, how many times do I have to say it? No making out with a raccoon on the team bus!
Carrington may be out of the tourney this year, but they’ll win the thing for years to come if they star the raccoon rumor each season around this time.
