Video: Amazing buzzer-beaters are much more fun with French announcers

Two phrases that our sports announcers need to incorporate into broadcasts immediately: Incroyable! and O la la la la la la shooter! Following the jump is video of the finish to a recent French A League game between Vichy and Limoges, which admittedly was pretty exciting. With his team leading by one, Vichy’s Jamal Shuler misses both ends of a two-shot free throw attempt. Limoges then grabs the board and races down court for what appears to be a game-winning layin with 2 seconds left; except that Shuler then gets off a desperation half-court shot that banks home for the win.

And if you’re going to see a finish like that, it should be with French announcers. They probably didn’t get more excited than U.S. announcers would have, but it just sounds better.

Shuler formerly played for Virginia Commonwealth, and is one of five U.S.-born players on the Vichy team.

This has to have gone viral somewhere, but see if you can find the audio to the end of the Georgetown game from the other night (I believe against Syracuse). The guy goes nuts. Almost as good as the soccer announcer that does the whole gooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaalllll thing.
