Tuesday Blogdome: Hines Ward (kind of) denies strip club story

If you’re unaware, the Dallas Morning News reported last night on its Super Bowl blog that several members of the Pittsburgh Steelers visited visited one of Dallas’ finest strip clubs to mark their first night in Texas. Hines Ward and Ike Taylor, both certainly important players for the Steelers, were names specifically mentioned as being in attendance.

Needless to say, as a party to all this madness (not to mention a respected veteran team leader), Ward was questioned about his night out at media day. He did say he went out, but emphasized that he made curfew — which, again, we’d expect him to, since he’s a respected veteran leader, etc. Then, Ward was asked specifically about the strip club. • Mets Ownership Of The Mets For Sale On Craigslist. The New York Mets are entangled in the Bernie Madoff financial scandal. A huge lawsuit has been brought against the Mets owner Fred Wilpon and his real-estate investment firm, Sterling Equities by Irving Picard, the man in charge of seeking compensation for the Madoff victims. To have some financial flexibility the Mets have placed up to 25 percent of the team for sale. I know there’s rough economic conditions right now and it will be difficult to find someone to pay $200 million to not own the Mets, but did the Mets really need to advertise their ownership opportunity with a Craigslist posting? … [Ted Williams Head]

• So, the Pro Bowl stuff happened. Is there a real reason to actually play the Pro Bowl besides for the NFL to make a lot of money? Do I really need to ask that question? I only wish there would be some cool specific skills competitions like the NHL or NBA have.
