My dream has always been to see an NHL game played on a free-floating iceberg. But until that day happens, I’ll have to be content with this: Apparently, North Carolina is going to play Michigan State in men’s basketball on the deck of an aircraft carrier. The game — not official as of yet — would be played this coming November in San Diego. From USA Today:
“It hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re supposed to be playing Michigan State in San Diego on an aircraft carrier on Veterans Day next year,” [UNC coach Roy] Williams said, according to Inside Carolina.
Williams couldn’t confirm exactly which ship the game would be played on, but the game will apparently take place on Nov. 11 — or on 11/11/11.
The game would be on Veteran’s Day, possibly part of a doubleheader, according to the Lansing (Mich.) State Journal.
