A picture is worth a thousand words, but I think the only on that applies here is “yikes.” Rafael Araujo, formerly best known for being a massive draft bust by the Toronto Raptors (strange, BYU ‘ballers are usually such sure-fire successes), decided here to put his imprint a FIBA Americas game by dunking so hard he shattered the backboard to pieces (Jerome Lane would be so proud).
We’re going to chalk this up to poor craftsmanship as much as to Mr. Araujo’s flush, because if you watch the video of the event, he didn’t even seem to dunk it all that hard. Nonetheless, the big man gets the credit for the dynamite dunk and his face back in the news for something other than not being good at basketball.
