When Reggie Jackson tells you that you’re too outspoken, you know there’s a problem. Jackson, now a special adviser for the Yankees, had some advice for the New York Jets; many of whom are trash-talking about members of the Patriots this week as their AFC playoff game looms.
“What are you talking about? What are you doing? Shut up, play football,” Jackson said on The Michael Kay Show on 1050 ESPN Radio. on Thursday. “What are you talking about [Patriots coach] Bill Belichick and these people for? Spend your time looking at film, spend your time knocking down a pass.”
Jets coach Rex Ryan criticized Tom Brady’s study habits last week, and cornerback Antonio Cromartie called Brady an “ass****,” also ripped him for allegedly pointing to the Jets sideline after throwing a touchdown pass the last time the two teams met.
Jackson:
“Go look at the hardware, dude. Walk through the lobby up there and look at the stuff that’s there. You don’t have that, you don’t have anything close to that,” Jackson said. “You might want to shut up, you might learn something. Read, you might figure something out. Watch film, you might get educated. If not, you have a chance to get embarrassed on Sunday. I hope you don’t, because I like the Jets.”

The ultimate loud-mouthed trash talker of all time (due respect to Jordan) telling you to shut up? Nothing else needs to be said. If Reggie says shut up, do it. He of all people would know when to run your mouth and when to earn the right. No scoreboard = no audio sound bites. Even I get it…

The Jets ought to listen up to Mr. October! Oh well, whether they do or not, they’re going to get smoked vs. the Patriots.

Why is Reggie telling the Jets to “shut up”? It should be their coach telling them that. Oh yeah, he’s an even bigger loudmouth than the players are. Oh well, when they’re watching the Patriots in the Super Bowl nobody will give a damn what they have to say then either.

Jackson says, “Shut up and play football.” Ha, ha, this is coming from someone who boasted that he was not coming to the New York Yankees to become a “Star;” he was bringing his “Star” in with him. Jackson alienated his entire team when he suggested to a reporter that he was the “straw that stirred the drink.” He was the ultimate “hot dog” and loved every minute of it! The Jets will get blown out, so whatever they say it won’t really matter!
