Look, if you play for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, you’d best not pull out your stinger at inappropriate times, that’s all I’m saying. It appears that center Ryan McLeod did that, and was thus waived on Monday, making him the first pro athlete of the year to be kicked off a team for public urination. The Killer Bees aren’t officially saying that’s the reason that McLeod is gone — who would? — but the evidence is pretty clear. As always, the quotes are the best part. From The Monitor:

Thursday night, McLeod and teammate Brett Clouthier found themselves at Tailgaters Sports Grill, a sports bar near the Hampton Inn where the team had stayed during the road trip.

Two men who matched the players’ descriptions given by restaurant staff had abruptly left after McLeod allegedly stood up next to the bar and began urinating, a Prescott Valley Police Department case narrative states.

Police identified Clouthier, whose name was on a receipt left at nearby Tailgaters Sports Grill, and another man known only as “Ryan,” an employee mopping urine at the bar told police. She told the officer that they were staying at the nearby Hampton Inn.

Yep, any time a newspaper account refers to you and includes the words “an employee mopping urine at the bar told police,” then you may have gone too far.

The incident occurred in Prescott Valley, Ariz. (the Killer Bees were in town to play the Sun Dogs). Here’s the police report, which is hilarious in its own right.

Officers arrested McLeod as he stepped out of the motel, the narrative states. Clouthier was not arrested.

The officer, who noted both players “appeared to be intoxicated,” asked each man for their identification as they walked toward a taxi parked outside the motel, the narrative states.

Clouthier correctly identified himself, while McLeod allegedly said his name was “Peter,” the narrative states. McLeod handed over his ID, which revealed his real name.

Ha. Peter.
