Wake Up Call: Indiana’s Derek Elston would like to know if you had a nice trip

Somewhere, New York Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi is smiling. Here’s Indiana’s Derek Elston showing you youngsters out there how to defend the paint. Moving your body into position to deny an opponent from moving through the lane takes effort, so why not do it the Tom Crean way and just trip him as he goes by? Northwestern forward Alex Marcotullio was the lucky recipient of Elston’s little foot fault here.
Anyway, not only did the ref see this and call an intentional foul, but Northwestern earned its first Big Ten victory of the season, 93-81. I’m only glad that Bobby Knight didn’t live to see this.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT
What you missed while discussing philosophy with your dog …
- The World Junior Hockey Championships are over, but Buffalo and Canada are still feuding.
- Golden-voiced Ted Williams meets Kobe Bryant. Somehow this resulted in the Cavs getting crushed.
- Dan Snyder makes sense, says no to HBO’s Hard Knocks. I know, weird.
