Mikhail Prokhorov had a better New Year’s than you

Any time you wake up with a headache the size of Texas while smelling like the shag carpeting in a Champagne room, you know it’s New Year’s– and any time you can be described as among an entourage of “12 gorgeous, tall brunettes and one blonde,” in the French Alps, no less, you’re having a pretty good day. And if you’re Russian tycoon and New Jersey Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokhorov, that good day is just the most recent in a long line of them.

It seems that the extremely rich and not exactly publicity-shy Prokhorov has been spending his holidays in the luxurious French Alps, surrounded by the aforementioned gaggle of brunettes (and what’s with the one blonde? Is that what counts as affirmative action in Russia?). I don’t think anyone can blame the guy– if I had the choice between an out-of-country vacation, replete with a verifiable harem and spending all night on the phone with the Denver Nuggets front office, vaguely threatening them to accept your Carmelo Anthony trade offer, I’d opt for the Chateau de Love too. It’s a much more dignified existence for an international playboy, after all.

Though one wonders how Mark Cuban, the also-extremely rich and rather eccentric Dallas Mavericks’ owner who Prokhorov has been most compared to, spent his own New Year’s Eve. I’m sure it was just as lavish and extravagant, and I’m equally sure Cuban had his own tall blonde to look after. Me-ow.
