Those howls that kept you up all last night were from neighborhood dogs protesting President Obama’s praise of Michael Vick. And because dogs vote — or their owners do, anyway — the White House is reining in the leash a bit on the President’s comments to Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie, in which he congratulated the team for giving Vick a second chance.
But the nexus of the call, spokesman Bill Burton told The Huffington Post, was on the team’s plans to use alternative energy sources at their stadium. And while the president was thankful that Vick was given a career do-over, he still thought that the actions committed by the QB — the orchestration of an illegal dog-fighting ring, the killing of animals and the deceiving of investigators looking into the matter — were condemnable.
Here’s Burton’s statement:
The President did place a call to Mr. Lurie to discuss plans for the use of alternative energy at Lincoln Financial Field, during which they spoke about that and other issues. He of course condemns the crimes that Michael Vick was convicted of but, as he’s said previously, he does think that individuals who have paid for their crimes should have an opportunity to contribute to society again.
Not sure how having Vick play quarterback for the Eagles is contributing to society … unless Kevin Kolb is secretly a super villain, and the government is the only one that knows. But the bigger issue is the questionable politics of mentioning Vick at all. Let’s pick the one hot-button issue that’s sure to get at least half the nation’s underpants in a bunch, and splatter it all over the news.
The Washington Post, meanwhile, is saying today that Obama’s comment about Vick was a secret message meant to help the economy. Sorry, but I didn’t take Dogfight Economics in college, so I don’t get it.
It would explain this video, though:
Next on Obama’s schedule: Call the Big Ten and compliment them on their new logo.

playing qb = bringing in interest = bringing in attendance = money for vendors = money for affiliates.

you’d think Obama would have more pressing issues, you know, like the economy maybe, to make phone calls to suck up to a sports team owner. this guy is truly clueless. i wonder if he knows how much an idiot it makes him look like? it’s one thing to be a fan. it’s quite another to use your position as President to brown-nose the sports landscape. would Laurie have taken his call when he was a “community organizer”?

obama has always been a CIA asset, so like everything an intelligence agent does, this had a secret agenda…this country has the highest incarceration rate in the civilized world, a clear indicator that freedom is a despicable lie (other indicators are being patted down by low-IQ TSA and DHS goons at every airport, mall, grocery store, transit station, etc., and the presence of prison guard towers going up in your local store parking lots)…WE ARE ALL IN PRISON IN THIS FASCIST STATE! and since people are now being locked up for exercising their constitutional rights and FEMA concentration camps are about to open, the govt wants to convey the message that their is hope for people criminalized by this fascist hellhole…now that the Food Safety (Nazi) bill has been passed, anybody who doesnt want to eat genetically modified chemicals masquerading as food will be locked up as well…it is time to stand up to the fascist traitors who have overthrown the American government!
