Video: In which Denzel Washington’s wife gets flattened at UFL game

Fun fact: Denzel Washington’s son, John David Washington, is a running back for the UFL’s Sacramento Mountain Lions (Sacramento’s finest professional football team. Tickets still available). John David recently scored his first UFL touchdown, and had a special cheerleader on the sideline watching the whole thing.

No, it wasn’t Denzel; it was John David’s mom, Pauletta, who was so excited by the proceedings that she ran down the field along side her son on his scoring jaunt. But she didn’t count on Hartford Colonials linebacker Simoni Lawrence, who missed John David, but made solid contact with his mom. Denzel describes the action, and shows a video, to David Letterman:

Boom! Denzel: “She got up quicker than the player did. I told her she should have stood over him and taunted him.”
