The end zone at Wrigley Field; what could possibly go wrong?

Hmm. Why does this come to mind?
From Teddy Greenstein, via the great Busted Coverage, comes closeups of the end zone configuration at Wrigley for Saturday’s Northwestern vs. Illinois tilt; the first college football game at Wrigley since 1938, and the first football of any kind there in 40 years. But as one can see here, these Confines are not so Friendly. Greenstein mentioned that this reminds him of the Arena Football League, and I have to agree. Couldn’t they have tilted the field away from the protrusion of bricks?
Meanwhile, they’re painting the Wrigley Field marquee purple. Yep. And College GameDay will be broadcasting from a McDonald’s parking lot. Plus, from the Chicago Tribune:
The Wildcats (7-3, 3-3 Big Ten) will take a Chicago Transit Authority elevated train from Evanston to Wrigley Field for the game against Illinois (5-5, 3-4).
