Ted Leonsis threatens to dance if you buy Wizards tickets

As seen in the video of John Wall following the jump, everyone in DC is excited by the “Dougie” dance — even Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Wizards and the NHL’s Capitals. In a recent blog post, Leonsis tries to rally readers to buy tickets to a Wizards game (preferably Saturday night’s tilt against the bare-cupboard Cavaliers) and drops the enticing nugget that once the team records a sell-out, Leonsis will follow the young superstar Wall and get down in the District, Dougie-style.

(The loud groaning you just heard no doubt came from the Leonsis children).

What do you think, does Ted Leonsis have the style and/or moves to pull this off?

Upon further review, probably not — but that doesn’t mean it won’t be entertaining as Hell to watch. My prediction (if it happens — with the way the Wiz are playing, a sell-out is no sure thing) is that Leonsis’ dance is the worst to hit the NBA since Mark Madsen last inexplicably won a championship ring. We can only hope someone at the Verizon center that night has a videocamera on their phone, because I’m pretty sure once Leonsis sees the footage of it happening he’ll have every copy burned, and then have those ashes grouped into a pile and burned again. Just my guess.

Meanwhile, Wizards’ fans just hope John Wall gives half as much time as he put into learning pre-game moves toward trying not to turn the ball over every other possession. Then the residents of DC would really have a reason to dance,
