Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore involved with recruiting violations at Iowa?

If I told you that an NCAA men’s basketball program had self-reported possible recruiting violations involving illegal contact between recruits and two movie stars with ties to the program, you’d have to guess UCLA first, right? USC? Loyola Marymount? Los Angeles City College? You’d only be off by about 1,700 miles.
Iowa City, IA is the home of the University of Iowa and their Hawkeyes, and the site of possible recruiting violations involving Ashton Kutcher and his wife, Demi Moore (Kutcher is from Iowa and a supporter of the Hawkeye athletic department). It seems that two recruits got to chat up the power couple during their official visits to the program, and since Kutcher is a donor to the University, that’s an NCAA no-no.
The infraction has been self-reported by the program to NCAA officials — and while it’s certainly unusual to find a couple of Hollywood A-Listers involved in the process, the possible violations are relatively minor, so if Bruce Pearl still somehow has a job at Tennessee then new Hawkeye coach Fran McCaffrey should be fine (I suppose there also exists the slight possibility that we’re all just being very elaborately Punk’d).
Demi Moore is great, but does meeting her once make up for having to spend 4 years in Iowa City? Well, considering one of the two recruits in question has already committed to the Hawkeye program, I guess for some it might. Personally, I would’ve held out for Salma Hayek, but hey, that’s just me.
The response from the NCAA will most likely be a slap on the wrist and I’m sure the University will be a little more careful in the future regarding contact between Kutcher and recruits so it would be surprising if this story turns into anything more dramatic.
And considering Kutcher’s previous attempts at drama, that’s probably for the best.
