How often does a team play its classic rock anthem in the stadium, led by the guy who wrote it? Liverpool and San Francisco are the two places, I suppose. Love how the song begins, and the camera pans up to find Journey’s Steve Perry leading Don’t Stop Believin’ (video following the jump). This is from Game 5 of the NLCS, but it’s quite appropriate for the day after the Giants took a 2-0 lead in the World Series with another beatdown of the Rangers (great headline at Fark: “Walker, Texas Rangers“). And here’s Perry again, leading a rendition of Lights at AT&T on Thursday night. Good one, but Don’t Stop Believin’ gave me goosebumps. Sure, I’m believin’, but I’m also starting to get a little nervous about this thing. The Series shifts to Texas now, where red meat is a dietary staple and people quit their jobs just to attend playoff games. Anyone going? If so, send me photos. Should be a rollicking good time.
ABOUT LAST NIGHT
What you missed while parking your car …
- Barry Bonds says he’d like to coach the Giants one day. I just hope he’s talking about football.
- Vlade Divacs makes halfcourt shot while lying on his back. Sweet.

This rambling diatribe is what usually happens after Mark’s 18th cup of coffee.

Steve Perry’s a whore and the Giants’ are unoriginal morons… he’ll show up wherever and whenever a team adopts “Don’t Stop Believin’” as it’s playoff anthem (which by the way has to be the most original thought since my high school voted “Don’t You Forget About Me” as our Senior song). Perry was all over the Chicago White Sox a few years back, even showing up at the victory parade (and earlier did locker room and on field stomach-churning crap with the team as they incessantly played that Journey tune oh, let me think, I don’t know… ElenentyBillionGoddamntimes!!).
