Due to their poor performance, New Orleans columnist gives Saints fans a failing grade

If Mark Lorando’s column is any indication, the rapid ascension to NFL royalty may have spoiled the historically much-maligned Saints fanbase.
Case in point: the columnist for The Times-Picayune, has taken “Who Dat Nation” (ugh) to task for their underwhelming performance thus far this season. In fact, Lorando goes so far as to say that despite the Saints football team being 2-0, Saints fans are in the cellar at a disappointing 0-2. Who knew fans could have win-loss records? Not me.
Lorando explores the lackadaisical, perhaps even smug performance by Saints fans through the first two games in his column, “Saints are 2-0. Who Dat Nation? Closer to 0-2. Time to fan up.”
Time to fan up? What the fungus?
Lorando lays it all out for Who Dat Nation in his preamble (via The Times-Picayune):
We followed up an embarrassingly flat crowd-noise performance in the Sept. 9 season opener with a spoiled, whiny, narrow-minded, loser-mentality, negative-Nancy overanalysis of Monday’s miraculous win in San Francisco.
If pundits covered fans the way they cover teams, some “SportsCenter” anchor would be asking right about now: “Has success gone to the Who Dat Nation’s head?”
And his sidekick would answer: “Clearly. Let’s go to the videotape.”
Yeah, if there’s one thing that fans of every NFL team never do, it’s overanalyze everything. Shame on you, Saints fans. You should be ashamed of yourselves for doing exactly what every other fan base does on talk radio, message boards, etc. Thankfully, Lorando was here to call you on it.
Lorando proceeds to go through both games separately, castigating Saints fans for their supposed deplorable behavior. But the essence of his condemnation is adequately summarized in his closing remarks:
For four decades, we have prided ourselves on being the greatest fans in football, because of our unshaken devotion to a loser. Against the Falclowns, we need to start proving that we know how to cheer a winner.
We can do better. The World Champs deserve better. The rule is simple:
Get Crunk or leave.
You heard it, Saints fans. Get Crunk or leave. The Saints bandwagon has no room for non-Crunkers. Crunk it up, Who Dat Nation! Whatever the hell that means.
