Week In Review: The Rise and Fall of Brutus Buckeye

Sep 24, 2010, 5:00 PM EDT

His vicious tackle of Brutus Buckeye prior to the Ohio State game is already the stuff of legend … or at least T-shirts. Now Rufus the Bobcat is in exile, banned by Ohio University from all of its athletic events due to the pre-game shenanigans. Was it worth it? When Rufus is old and graying, we’ll ask him again. And he’ll probably lean back, smile contentedly, and yell at us to get off of his lawn.
Other highlights of the past week:

* T.O., Ochocinco deem Sarah Palin not worthy for Playboy.

* Is surfing a sport? If so, Kelly Slater — who has won world titles at the opposite ends of two decades — must be the best athlete ever.

* In which our own Jelisa Castrodale topples a six-time Jeopardy! champion. Her brief reign is strict but fair.

* Indiana radio host says coach’s heart attack is retribution from God. That’s a very special kind of asshattery.

* The Yuma High School Criminals will leave the gun, take the cannoli.

* Mike Celizic, 1949-2010. May the road rise up to meet you.

Stay tuned for the comedic stylings of Weed Against Speed this weekend. And remember, always state your answers in the form of a question.
