Morning Tweet: And now, more LeBron news than you can handle
Sep 23, 2010, 9:00 AM EDT
What happened to my idea to have a 24-hour LeBron James network? There could be specials, documentaries, game coverage. and of course a reality series, so America could keep track of LeBron 24-7. ESPN is pretty close to that anyway, with today’s announcement that the network would be covering the Miami Heat’s entire training camp. Since the camp will take place on a military base, I suppose you could say that ESPN reporters will be embedded. From USA Today:
Starting at the team’s media day Monday and continuing when its training camp starts Tuesday at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., ESPN will erect a set and parachute in analysts Jalen Rose, Josh Elliott and Jon Barry and reporters including Rachel Nichols for continuous surveillance across ESPN platforms.
While senior coordinating producer Mark Summer isn’t sure ESPN will get practice video, the mission is clear with a team he says has unbelievable story lines. “Obviously, with all the buzz, it’s a bigger deal (than) past NBA training camps,” he says. “Fans want to hear about the Heat, so we’ll want to ramp up the coverage.” And presumably get air support against any threatening sorties from Cleveland.
Oh joy.
But what I’m really looking forward to is ESPN coverage of LeBron’s wedding to longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson. Media Takeout is reporting that he proposed on Tuesday, although the Cleveland Plain Dealer isn’t so sure.
If the latter is true, get ready for ESPN’s wall-to-wall coverage of people denying LeBron is getting married. Brought to you by Burger King.
