Ah tabloids, you never let us down. At least this New York Daily News headline isn’t as overtly controversial as the one they ran when Vick first signed with the Eagles. Or, you know, this one. But it is a good indication that despite an prison stretch, America is not quite ready to forgive and forget his unsavory past. And if a tabloid headline is supposed to sell papers and get people talking, this is a smashing success.
I’m already on the record concerning my thoughts on Vick as an Eagle, although that was written before Andy Reid named him as Sunday’s starter. Anyway, our antagonist has been able to lay low and avoid this kind of thing as a backup in Philadelphia. But now that he’s the starter, both linebackers and headline writers get to take their shots. One or the other is going to get to him before the season is out.
