In case you’re having trouble with the perspective in this photo, that’s an electrical worker on a naked metal pole, about 1,700 feet in the air (taller than Chicago’s Sears Tower). Even birds are looking up and declaring him mentally incompetent. And he does this every day. Its called a guided tower, and it’s used to dissipate lighting strikes, or some such. The first 1,400 feet is an elevator ride, then the guy climbs a caged ladder, then it’s outside on telephone pole rungs. Eventually he perches atop the 1,768-foot structure and checks the electrical box. Then he holds a tiny Fay Wray doll in one hand while swatting at imaginary biplanes with the other.
Best YouTube comment so far: “S*** I forgot my wrench.”
And I can’t even get the cable guy to run a connection through my attic.
Video following the jump.

That video is gone. Explanation here: http://bit.ly/9IrxAf
I looked at that video before it was pulled, and I *thought* it *might* have shown him climbing but not “tied-off” 100% of the time. I could be wrong.
Anyone find it anywhere else?

Found the video re-posted here: http://bit.ly/dg3DND
No wonder the guy wanted it removed. It shows him climbing not connected. Nice.
